Kids Taekwondo.

Kids Taekwondo is the main children’s program: a structured, active forty-five-minute class for ages six to twelve. Children learn at their own pace while working on focus, confidence, fitness and the fundamentals of taekwondo.

Learning to focus

Classes keep children moving, but they also ask them to stop, listen and pay attention to what comes next. That is a skill, and it is practised every class.

A University of Surrey study of 240 children aged seven to eleven found that two taekwondo classes a week, over eleven weeks, improved the children’s self-regulation and attention as rated by their teachers.

Confidence, one step at a time

Confidence here doesn’t mean becoming the loudest in the room. It starts with trying something they were unsure about, taking correction, and trying again.

Each colour belt is a goal to work towards. Everyone wears the same uniform, but every child is working on their own next step, at their own stage.

What respect looks like

Respect is taught through ordinary behaviour: listening while someone else is speaking, waiting for a turn, speaking properly to instructors and classmates, and encouraging the person next to you.

Sparring and competition

Regular classes are about fundamentals. Sparring and competition training run as their own classes, separate from the main program.
